I don’t like mnemonic devices. It’s twice the work and I still forget what the string of words stands for. I would rather just remember the list the mnemonic device stands for. I think the only one that ever worked for me was the musical one because that one (Every Girl Boy Does Fine) the words were to remember a letter of the alphabet, not another word that started with the same letter of the alphabet.
Such as:
My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas
(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto)
As a kid, it didn’t help as much as I was told it would. I kept forgetting what M, V, E, M, J, S, U, N, P stood for. Now, I’ve memorized the planets as they are and can recite them without the device.
If it works for you, awesome! I’ll just try to remember list of planets (and other such things) instead of using the mnemonic device.
