Daily Prompt: Dry

From The Grey House:

Once done, she used her thick towels to dry off. There was no blood when she wiped her right arm, which meant the bullet wound was healing well. Her shoulder still hurt to move, but it seemed a bit better. Natalia shook her head. She was probably only wanting it to feel better. It was too soon for the muscles to feel better.

Daily Prompt: Indication

From The Grey House:

Charlie drove Natalia to the doctor in Oakland a bit later. The staff and the doctor didn’t ask questions, and she wasn’t billed. Natalia didn’t question it but did ask about her shoulder. As far as the scan could show, she was fine. Nothing broken, and the doctor didn’t find any indications of tears.

Daily Prompt: Number

From The Grey House:

“I don’t have his number any more. I can call Rebecca or Joseph. What did you forget?” He was reaching for his cell.

“There was another Slayer with us. Name’s Dean. He went looking for something, I don’t know what. Don’t know when he’s coming back. Need to tell Vincent.”

Charlie dialed Joseph’s phone. He doubted Rebecca was still awake. She was the only one able to guard during the day. Joseph answered on the second ring.

Daily Prompt: Deep

From The Grey House:

She dreamt the dream about once a week since she returned to the area. She was lying in a large canopied bed. The fabric draped around the bed was deep crimson giving everything, including her skin, a blood red hue. The curtains parted, and a man handed her a goblet telling her it was time to rise. He called her child every time. It had been slightly menacing since she had never seen his face. The voice was his. She was sure of it.

Daily Prompt: Catch

From The Grey House:

A tall thin vampire with a shaved head stepped in front of him trying to get his attention. It still took a minute for Joseph to catch Vincent’s eye. “What is it?”

Daily Prompt: Location

From The Grey House:

She jumped into the air, spinning, using the staff as a long bat. She knocked down Miguel and Leroy, who were standing behind her. She heard the wolves growl and attack. A shot rang out from upstairs, causing Natalia to glance up as she landed. She saw a head and rifle barrel peering over the edge of the second-floor railing. It was a strategic location as the railing was solid wood. Natalia focused her attention back to the fray, wondering who went down, and saw Ryan on the ground, blood pooling by his head.

Daily Prompt: Church

From The Grey House:

“My appointment is at a church in Oakland. It would raise a lot of questions if I arrived in a limo, or a fancy sports car or whatever it is you own. I’ll meet you here on Friday.”

Daily Prompt:Complain

From The Grey House:

“You came here without telling me. I couldn’t let that go unpunished.” He paused as Joseph took the folder away from Charlie. As the werewolf muttered under his breath, Vincent’s thoughts strayed back to his encounter with Natalia. Vincent could almost feel her warm skin against his and could almost taste her blood on his tongue. The only part of their encounter she complained about was when he drank her blood. His need for her had grown in the past few days. He closed his eyes briefly. He pulled his cell phone out and phoned Justin. He said very little.

Daily Prompt: Useful

From The Grey House:

The true Slayers at the table, Zechariah, Miguel and the newest member Agnes, weren’t skating around the cannon fodder situation, as Leroy and Ryan were smart vampire hunters. These two men seemed to hold contempt for other vampire hunters, because the others weren’t as helpful to the Slayers. The only other vampire hunter this group did not mind having around was Dean, who was currently out on an extended errand. The young man was a planner: never went out on missions, just made the missions run smoothly. Leroy was good with guns and could quickly kill young vampires. Natalia doubted he had ever been up against a vampire as old as Vincent. Ryan was an ex-cop and had many useful connections.

Daily Prompt: Station

From The Grey House:

There were also three bouncers in the club who were to follow Vincent’s rules or die. A human, stationed at the street level door, only let members in. A vampire at the bottom of the steps inside, only let members on the guest list pass. Occasionally, humans and other uninvited guests were able to get past the first two bouncers, but then they would meet Jordan. He sat at the top of the steps and sniffed out the liars and the humans.
