Daily Prompt: Railroad

From The Grey House, Book One:

He laughed. “All right. Of course, I want your blood. Especially since you’ve already offered. As for money, I was changed when I was a railroad worker in the late 1800s. I learned to save. I need a place to go. If you want the information, you’ll get me contacts out of the city, away from here.”

Daily Prompt: Post

From The Grey House, Book One:

Natalia shook with delight. Vincent’s men had captured Marshal. He was the newest of Zechariah’s groupies, and the cruelest. He joined about six months ago and took great pains to torture anything they chased. It didn’t bother Natalia until he chased her. At the beginning of her imprisonment, she had been tied defenseless to a post in a dark room. After Zechariah caught Marshal trying to take Natalia’s pants off twice, he untied her and told her she should defend herself if Marshal tried again. Marshal did not try again, preferring defenseless prey.

Daily Prompt: Scan

From The Grey House, Book One:

Slowly, deliberately, Vincent walked out of the office, down the hallway and out into the main room. Scanning the crowd, he found the quickest route through the guests to the private corner. Anthony and his mystery woman were still speaking softly. He stood unnoticed for two minutes. Vincent was not a happy man. He wanted to pull Anthony away from her, but he knew from experience that to rip a hypnotized person away from the hypnotist was a very bad idea. Instead, he cleared his throat. Twice.

Daily Prompt: Circle

From The Grey House, Book One:

“Hello, Marshal. Tables have turned, haven’t they?” She started walking around him, making him turn in slow circles.

Daily Prompt: Camp

From The Grey House, Book One:

“About two months after you bit me, I went on a road trip to find Donald. I was determined to find him and kill him. I found the route he used to take and drove it up and down, stopping at truck stops and restaurants; anywhere a trucker would stop. Along the way I met a Slayer. He told me about a training camp in North Dakota that was run by militants. Most of them didn’t know about Hellspawn, but as long as I was willing to do as they said, I could be trained on any number of weapons. All I had to do was mention the Slayer’s name and I’d be in. He gave me the information, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to go. I kept looking for Donald…. It was a human that convinced me to get training.”

Daily Prompt: Log

From The Grey  House, Book One:

“Angela, Jamie, Adrian, Leon, Peggy and Jill you will stay here to continue taking care of things. Find a good place for the bodies, then start tearing everything down. Anything that can be used for the farms can be taken. Everything else, give to a charity. Drive it there yourselves, let no one come on this land that I haven’t sent. When the house is empty, tear it down, log by log. The rest of you will be returning home. Get ready, we leave within the hour.” He turned and left the house, wanting a less closed in area. Joseph joined him in his brief walk outside.

Daily Prompt: Thanks

From The Grey House, Book One:

“You’re going to forget all about me. The next time I see you, you’ll think it’s the first time we’ve met. Thanks for all the information. In 30 seconds, you’ll wake up feeling very happy.” She kissed him on the cheek, said a word in Romanian, and walked into the alley behind them. As she turned back, Anthony snapped out of the hypnosis and looked around. A few seconds later he was joined by a second man. Natalia had seen him talking to Vincent and figured him for another of his trusted men.

Daily Prompt: Area

From The Grey House, Book One:

“You really have a medical room here?”

“Lots of humans, vampires and werewolves living in one area. Safety first.”

“Right.”

Daily Prompt: Question

From The Grey House, Book One:

“I watched as she spoke to ten individuals, yet only half remember talking to her. Interestingly enough, the ones claiming amnesia are some of the most flirtatious of your guests.” Vincent raised an inquisitive eyebrow. “The others stated she asked them questions of the city, like a tourist would ask. I considered talking to her myself, but I wanted you to witness it, in case I forget.”

Daily Prompt: Headline

From The Grey House, Book One:

It took a long time to convince the Slayers that The Red Thread was a better target. Zechariah, for some reason, was convinced The Ocean’s Edge needed to be destroyed. Natalia thought perhaps Zechariah wanted to make the headlines instead of killing Hellspawn. She was finally able to convince Zechariah a few months ago to use The Red Thread, and now Zechariah knew what to do there. Natalia didn’t know what he was planning. She could guess though, and the guesses weren’t very pleasant.
