I’ve heard that running on the beach is not a good for the body, but the idea of it is very appealing to me. Therefore, I wrote this scene. “Tide” doesn’t come up in this paragraph, but “tide” always reminds me of the ocean. Without further ado, here is a paragraph from The Grey House, Book One:
Natalia loved running on the hard-packed sand. She ran barefoot, preferring the feel of the gritty sand to the cushion of a running shoe. She also hated wet shoes, which happened a great deal when running this close to the water’s edge. She liked to run because the feel of the wind against her body, the smell of the salt and seaweed, and the drumming of the surf against the sand helped her to forget her thoughts, and she had so much to forget.
