“I wanted to meet the most powerful vampire in the city. Slayers and vampires told me that I could find him here. Then, I heard there was going to be a huge party to celebrate the Captain’s birthday.” She shrugged as the lie spilled from her lips. “I decided to crash the party and meet the Captain and was disappointed to find out that the most powerful vampire and the Captain were not the same person. I started to ask your guests why the two weren’t the same. Do you want to know what your guests told me?”
Vincent nodded, mildly curious. The pain was gone; he shifted, pretending to readjust himself into a more comfortable position. He was actually preparing himself to strike. She was quite a human, but he did not like being tricked.
