Daily Prompt: Dangerous

From Inside The Grey House:

Natalia tried to turn around to face him again, but the large vampire wouldn’t let her. She enjoyed the feel of him against her but wanted to face him. His hands were running up and down her body. She’d been standing by the window for only a few minutes before he had come in, wondering if she should go find him. Now, here he was, going slow and easy, and all she wanted was for him to throw her onto the bed and claim her.

“What if I want you to take my blood?”

His lips were at her ear again. She could feel the cool air tickling her ear lobe. “It’s not smart to tempt me with such a dangerous pursuit, Natalia.”

Daily Prompt: World

From Inside the Grey House:

“You kissed me. You had your hands, well, in some pretty interesting places.”

“Sorry, Charlie. We had to look like we had no idea what was going on with the world. Stargazing wouldn’t have worked, and it had to look to a casual observer that you weren’t wearing ripped clothing. By getting that close, the girl couldn’t tell if your clothing were ripped or whole. It was the only thing we could do to get away clean.”

“I don’t look forward to telling the boss. He gets pretty jealous.”

Daily Prompt: Polite

From Inside the Grey House:

For the next month, she asked politely, giving him reasons as to why she should train. He continued to say no, despite her valid arguments. She felt she needed to stay in shape and keep her fighting skills honed. She was still searching for Donald and expected to find him and kill him herself. She also thought that being able to fight vampires would make her better able to handle Vincent in bed. There was no good reason for him to say no, but he did every time, never giving her a reason.

Daily Prompt: Respect

From Inside The Grey House:

Vincent led Lilly and her women upstairs to the spare bedroom, not wasting any time on greetings. His people stayed out of his way. Joseph was at the top of the stairs, waiting. As Vincent’s foot hit the second-floor landing, his guard started walking, also mute. Joseph held the door open for Vincent and Lilly, nodding to the ladies as they walked by. He knew who they were and respected them.

The three ladies were healers from the House of the Turning Sky. The House was well respected but at the same time was looked down upon. They were a small group, with maybe twenty healers, but seemed to be growing. They worked differently than other healers Joseph had met. They used their own will and the energy in the air and in the Earth rather than spells in books. It required the healer to have a stronger will than the person they were healing, at least for the first time. As Mierka led the other ladies to the bathroom down the hall, Joseph shook his head. Lilly had a strong will, but he wondered if it would be strong enough to combat Natalia’s.

Daily Prompt: Death

From Inside The Grey House:

Joseph almost ran into Vincent, who had paused in the doorway, appalled by his woman’s appearance. Natalia was pale and thinner then she had been four days ago. The bed sheets and mattress were soaked from her sweat. He took a breath to calm himself but stopped when the smell of the room hit him. The acrid smell of sweat and the cloying scent of death lay thick in the room. Ben was sitting on the far side of the bed, dripping water into the human’s mouth with his fingers. His skin seemed to be hanging off his bones.

“The bathroom has been prepared to specifications, sir.” Joseph spoke quietly, directly to Vincent.

Daily Prompt: Feast

From Inside The Grey House:

Edwin’s voice penetrated their thoughts. “What the hell are you doing? You don’t have a present for my coronation, and you feast on this human before I have?”

Natalia laughed again as Vincent slipped out of her. Without a word he pulled his kerchief out of his pocket, cleaned himself off, zipped up then reached between Natalia’s legs and wiped her clean. “I didn’t know I had to wait for your word in my club.”

Daily Prompt: Vigorously

The Grey House is out on paperback! Kindle will be available soon! For now, I will be sharing exerts from book 2 of the series.

From Inside the Grey House:

Her hands dug into his arms. She knew of the video and audio surveillance, but wasn’t sure about having actual people present while she screwed him. It excited her a little though. “If I say yes now, but want to stop?”

“I’ll never do anything to you that you aren’t willing to have done.”

That was true. She occasionally told him no, and he always stopped. Natalia nodded her head vigorously, letting her desires flood her completely. “Do as you wish, vampire. Show them I belong to you.”

Daily Prompt: Conscious

From The Grey House:

There was a moment of quiet as the fighters looked around. Joseph was the first to move and went to the wounded wolf. He picked up Orlando and took him closer to the front door. The wolf was still conscious and whimpering. There was a doctor in their van, waiting. Orlando would soon have help. Joseph placed Orlando on the floor, trying to make him comfortable, then turned to the two remaining wolves and Zechariah, who had yet to take a shot. Considering two angry wolves were growling at him, it was a smart move. The vampire went to the Slayer and took the gun without a fuss. He then turned the man around and held Zechariah’s hands behind his back. Joseph stood watching Vincent wondering what his boss would do.

Daily Prompt: Member

From The Grey House:

The Red Thread was a membership-only club for humans who had a taste for the unique. There were very few humans who knew that the people dressed as monsters were real. Most never found out unless they were chosen as victims. Vincent had hired five vampires to make sure the monsters did not make snacks out of his paying members.

There were also three bouncers in the club who were to follow Vincent’s rules or die. A human, stationed at the street level door, only let members in. A vampire at the bottom of the steps inside, only let members on the guest list pass. Occasionally, humans and other uninvited guests were able to get past the first two bouncers, but then they would meet Jordan. He sat at the top of the steps and sniffed out the liars and the humans.

Daily Prompt: Water

From The Grey House:

“She runs on the beach after her shift. Likes the privacy.”

Vincent leaned back in the leather chair and looked beyond Richard to the bank of television screens. There were three cameras that pointed toward the beach. He didn’t see anyone on any of them. Richard looked in the same direction then got up and pointed at a screen showing part of the deck. There was a table with a bottle of water, a towel and a backpack on it. Its two chairs were still set on the floor rather than in the storage area, as they should be.

“She’ll set everything right before she leaves. Always does.”
