Daily Prompt: God

From The Grey House:

That’s where the Slayers came in. They were sent by God to hold back the monsters. Most times, Slayers killed the monsters outright, even if there were humans around. Natalia didn’t agree with that. She felt there was a better way. She found she could approach most vampires if she was careful. Sometimes, she could approach werewolves, but they were trickier. Too close to the full moon, their rage was just under the surface. She rubbed her shoulder as the memory of Charlie’s betrayal came back to her.

Daily Prompt: Features

From The Grey House:

She stood with her feet apart and her arms folded, giving him a cross look when he looked her up and down slowly. “Vincent, you may be able to lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to me. I’ve known you far too long. I know how you are around women you desire. You don’t think: you just act. You were ready to drink her blood two nights ago, even though doing so would have killed her.” Her features softened as she stepped toward him. Her hand went to tangle in his hair. “You shouldn’t be alone with your thoughts. It will drive you insane thinking of a woman you want to touch and can’t.”

Daily Prompt: Nervous

From The Grey House:

Richard was hovering nervously just behind Vincent’s right shoulder. The manager/maître d’ of The Ocean’s Edge was always fidgety, but when Vincent was around, he was ten times worse. The man had heard the entertaining rumors regarding Vincent and his lot and believed them. Vincent smiled remembering the first time someone accused him of being a mobster. He enjoyed the rumor; it kept the truth hidden.

Daily Prompt: Eleven

From The Grey House:

It was eleven o’clock. She had one hour to try and figure out a way to get a message to Vincent. Two Slayers had come to The Red Thread earlier today to set bombs. Natalia didn’t know how many; didn’t even know where. She had no idea how to send the vampire a message. It had to be done where the Slayers couldn’t see her, which meant she couldn’t slip a note to the waitress or the bartender; too obvious. She could try and signal someone, but none of the vampires she had seen the first night were here, as far as she could tell. There was one last option: write a message on the bathroom mirror.

Daily Prompt: Fog

From The Grey House:

Natalia woke with a start from a dream that left her foggy and confused. Her bed was moving, and lights kept flashing. Her mouth was dry, her shoulder hurt, and her stomach was growling at her. The dream came back to her in bits and pieces as did her surroundings. Charlie was beside her, asking if she was all right. A piece of her dream floated into her memory and she bolted upright in the seat. The belt tightened around her and dug into her shoulder. She howled with pain, startling Charlie. He pulled over to the side of the road and stopped.

Daily Prompt: ?

From Inside the Grey House (book 2 of The Grey House):

Decided to give you the first paragraph of Inside the Grey House, no prompted used.

The jet landed on the private runway, barely causing a bump. Vincent and Mierka were off the plane within five minutes of landing and were being greeted by Lorraine’s valet within seven. It was very close to sunrise, making the vampires grateful for Lorraine’s private runway. She owned an incredible property in upstate New York, with space enough for a small airport, which was just large enough for Vincent’s 16-seater jet. Human servants led Vincent and Mierka to separate bedrooms, gave them blood, and told them Lorraine would meet them in the evening.

Daily Prompt: Profound

From The Grey House:

Vincent could almost feel her against him. A groan escaped him. Their encounter had left him wanting. He had enough willing women to keep him satisfied, but it had been a long time since he had felt a need this profound. He took a deep breath to try to steady his thoughts. He shook his head and continued down the steps. At least this evening’s business would help alleviate his frustrations.

Daily Prompt: Agree

From The Grey House:

“You’re worried for her.”

“She’s not doing well. If something should happen, I want you there to change her.”

“Do you think she’d agree?”

“Talk to her when you return, if you can. Make sure she’s willing.”

“If she’s not?”

Vincent took a moment, trying to decide what to do. He knew Natalia would not appreciate being changed without explicit permission. If Natalia was taking a turn for the worse, though… “Try and get her permission. If she doesn’t give consent, and is dying, do it anyway. I’ll deal with her anger when I return.”

“If you think this is wise…”

“I don’t, but there’s no other choice. I’m not done with her yet.”

Daily Prompt: Pester

From The Grey House:

Vincent normally let his accountant take care of the paperwork, therefore when he arrived unannounced, Richard nearly fainted. Vincent was in the neighborhood and had nothing better to do then to pester his manager. Vincent enjoyed throwing Richard off balance. The surprise inspections kept Richard and the rest of the staff on their toes. The Ocean’s Edge was a five-star restaurant; Vincent expected it to stay that way, which was one of the reasons he was here at midnight on a Monday. It was early for Vincent, late for Richard.

Daily Prompt: Frighten

From The Grey House:

A gasp of hope escaped the frightened Aaron. Vincent cocked his head to look at the human. Aaron was quieting; becoming still. A look of pure hope was indeed spreading from his green eyes to his tanned face. A few more words and he would be completely convinced everything would be ok. A hard need worked its way from the pit of Vincent’s stomach throughout his body, making him tingle. Vincent loved the look of desperate hope on a human’s face. It had been a long time since he had seen it. He decided to play it.
