Daily Prompt: Pierce

From The Grey House, Book One:

Natalia grunted as he bit. His fangs pierced her flesh close to the elbow. She stopped herself from pulling her arm away. She trusted Tony more when he took her blood. For Tony, it was payment; for Vincent, it was something more and that made Natalia nervous. Natalia held her arm still and felt when he withdrew his fangs. He sucked at her arm, her blood, and the pain did not diminish. Natalia waited for the vampire to be done, wondering if she made the right decision. She knew it would always be this way, would always hurt. The thought made her understand she would probably allow this to happen again. She wasn’t yet sure how she felt about that.

Daily Prompt: Breed

From The Grey House, Book Three, Protector of the Grey House:

Vincent pulled out his phone for the fourth time that morning, frowning when there were still no messages awaiting his attention. He was in one of Lorraine’s limos, surrounded by comrades who were talking loudly about their victory. All he could think of was Natalia. He had a disquieting feeling that all was not well in his house. There were no calls though, so everything was fine. Except for the feeling crawling into his gut and breeding discontent.

Daily Prompt: Flash

From The Grey House, Book One:

Natalia woke with a start from a dream that left her foggy and confused. Her bed was moving and lights kept flashing. Her mouth was dry, her shoulder hurt and her stomach was growling at her. The dream came back to her in bits and pieces as did her surroundings. Charlie was beside her, asking if she was all right. A piece of her dream floated into her memory and she bolted upright in the seat. The belt tightened around her and dug into her wound. She howled with pain, startling Charlie. He pulled over to the side of the road and stopped.

Daily Prompt: Classroom

From The Grey House, Book Three, Protector of the Grey House:

Joseph nodded, went to Natalia and picked her up. He left the room to Mierka, taking his prisoner to the only place in the house that was probably safe for her. If Natalia were left in one of the regular bedrooms, it would be very easy for Vincent to get to her. Taking Natalia down to the dungeon would mean Vincent had to think about what he was doing and where he was going. The dungeon would ensure Vincent thought with his mind instead of his emotions. Also, the dungeon was a great classroom.

Daily Prompt: Wheel

From the Grey House, Book Two, Inside the Grey House:

“Whenever a Slayer is found on the streets or in a park, the body disappears and a secret organization takes over the investigation.” She slammed her hand on the steering wheel. They were at a red light and Natalia felt each second that passed as a knife in her mind. How the hell had she missed this? “If we can get him away from her, bring him back to his apartment and kill him there, the Slayers will take care of their own and no one outside of the Slayers will know about it.”

Daily Prompt: Expectation

From The Grey House, Book Three, Protector of the Grey House:

Behind him, he heard Anthony’s negative utterance as it finally sunk in what his leader was about to do. He heard Julia ask what was wrong, but she was ignored. Natalia, even more confused, knelt in front of her lover, waiting in nervous expectation. She had never seen, read or heard about what was happening. Once on one knee she raised her eyes to her lover, her features clear of worry. Whatever was to happen, she would accept and meet the situation with no doubt in her mind.

Daily Prompt: Oak

From The Grey House, Book One:

Vincent put the papers he was holding down on the large oak desk and turned to Richard. The tall thin man always seemed smaller whenever he was being scrutinized. Richard ran a shaking hand through his blond tipped black hair. His wide eyes were showing off the bright violet contacts. Vincent had no idea what the man’s real hair and eye color were. Richard knew his job, and the customers loved his flamboyant attitude, nothing else mattered.

Daily Prompt: Characteristic

From The Grey House, Book One:

Anthony was standing with his arms crossed, angry. He did not trust Natalia, but didn’t seem to know why. Vincent didn’t think it necessary to tell Anthony about their first meeting, and was more comfortable having one of his people suspicious about the human. His emotions were too tied up and confused when it came to Natalia. Joseph, usually suspicious of everyone, was uncharacteristically silent about his boss’ new woman; therefore, he let Anthony be suspicious.

Daily Prompt: Cover

From The Grey House, Book One:

Vincent turned from her, walking quickly to the door. He threw open the door and stepped outside, keeping the door ajar. Natalia tried to watch but couldn’t; the vampires were just out of sight. Natalia removed the gauze from her shoulder and tossed it into the trash. She pulled her shirt back on as she strolled to the window, checking things out. The windows in the room opened out, and were tall enough for her plan. The second floor of the club was an add on and wasn’t the same dimensions as the first floor. It was a seven-foot drop to the roof. No problem. The drop from that roof to the street was a little bit harrowing. That was probably about twenty-feet. She could jump to the wooden awning covering the entrance way, then to the street. Natalia nodded. It would have to do.

Daily Prompt: Activity

From The Grey House, Book Two, Inside the Grey House:

There was a rush of activity in the house as Vincent came in from the garage. He carried about him an aura that announced to his people that he would not be stopped. His suit was wrinkled, his brow furrowed. His long legs carried him quickly along his path and his hands were fists at his side.
