Daily Prompt: guilt

This is from a work in progress. Not writing everything in order, so NO idea what book this will be from. Book one is done. Book two is halfway done. And I’m working on the prequel as well. Or the actual book one? I have no idea. It’s a long series. No idea when it’ll be out. But I wrote this last night and though it is a rough scene, the last line I’m sharing made me laugh so freaking hard. Because people can sometimes be dumb when it comes to sex.

From Mayoria (working title):

He cringed back as if slapped. He felt the guilt consume him and went to a nearby chair. He sat heavily in it and turned to Mindy. “When I was quite young, maybe eight or nine, I asked my mother out of the blue what would happen if a human drank vampire blood. She told me that if a human drank it, nothing would happen, not even if they were on the verge of death. Our blood could not change a human. But if the child of a vampire drank too much full vampire blood, they would become addicted.”

Her hands formed into fist as anger, confusion and helplessness threatened to consume her. “Again, I have to ask, how in the hell do you forget that?”

He stood and faced her with his own worry, his own fear, and his guilt. “I don’t know. It wasn’t a big conversation. It was…” he gestured with is hands, agitated, “it was asked and answered in passing. It was not a conversation I felt needed further examination.”

Mindy’s hands went to hide her face. She took a few deep breaths and faced Robert with as calm an attitude as she could muster. “Ok. I still don’t understand. Why was she drinking your blood anyway? To be stronger during the day?”

He seemed to blush, and he bristled with embarrassment. “We… it… it enhanced our pleasure.” His voice grew softer. “She was able to handle my desires better after drinking my blood.”

Mindy stared at him for a moment, then her mouth dropped open. “Wait a minute. Are you telling me that your girlfriend is addicted to your blood because you wanted to fuck her harder?”
