Daily Prompt: Advance

From The Grey House:

Rebecca gave the signal and the three werewolves advanced. With them were three vampires: Vincent, Joseph, who was standing by his master, and Mierka, who was somewhere in the woods, finding an alternate way into the house. As the werewolves advanced up the long driveway, they changed into wolf form and merged with the woods. They were quieter as wolves, and less conspicuous. Vincent and Joseph, after checking to make sure that the wolves were doing well, ran up the drive. The werewolves were there for stealth; the vampires were for speed and strength.

Daily Prompt: Hunting

From The Grey House:

“There was some trouble when we were together. Some people seemed to be hunting werewolves where he ran. The Marine Headlands. After we broke up, I still kept an eye on the news for that area. I know there were wolves dying in that area every so often. I never say Charlie’s name, but I always worried he was dead.”

Daily Prompt: Bed

From The Grey House:

He arrived back at the house close to sunrise. Rebecca was waiting for him in their room.

“What happened?” She sounded like his alpha.

“She’s been kidnapped. He thinks a Slayer has her.”

“Is he going to look for her?”

“Justin is, yes.”

“Good. I’m glad you’re home.” She sounded relieved.

“Vincent knew everything before I told him. Knows more than I do. Made me tell him anyway.” He sounded defeated. She watched him undress, admiring his sleek toned form from the bed.

“I told him I gave you permission.” No hint of regret.

He sagged. “Are you in trouble?”

“I spoke to him as soon as you left, so no.”

He slipped into bed with her, spooning with her. “If I got you in trouble, I’ll never forgive myself.”

She giggled. “I’m a big girl, I can take care of myself.”

Daily Prompt: Rule

From The Grey House:

Natalia pushed herself away from the wall, took two steps toward Vincent and laid a hand upon Anthony’s shoulder. He did not stir. “They told me the Captain was an uncaring fool named Christopher Tyler, but the most powerful vampire in San Francisco was an older one named Vincent Grey, and that one day, he would rule the city.”

Daily Prompt: Boot

From The Grey House:

The front door was in direct line with the dining room, which, as far as Natalia knew, had never held any furniture. It was a large open space, good for weapons practice. Now it made a great space for actual fighting. Natalia’s position lined her up perfectly with the door, and therefore Vincent. He was dressed in hiking boots, faded jeans that hugged his lower body well, a tight black cotton t-shirt and a dark green button up shirt. He locked eyes with her, as if holding her up. A small shudder ran through her as she saw her feelings mirrored in his eyes. She would be in his bed by morning.

Daily Prompt: Damage

From The Grey House:

He nodded then looked to Natalia. She was still out cold and there was blood seeping from the bandages. He looked up to Sandra. “Do you know if she’ll be all right?”

“I’m no more than a field medic. I can dress wounds, and that type of thing, but I don’t have training. We’re taking the two of you to Vincent’s estates.”

“Natalia’s place is closer. Or even that doctor we saw in Oakland.”

“Though Vincent’s Estates are further, Ben is there. It being daylight…” Her pleasant voice turned a bit sarcastic at the end.

Charlie blushed. “Right. I…” He looked to Natalia. “I forgot. I’m worried about her. What about Oakland?”

“Don’t have that doctor’s information and even if we did, it would take too much to have him take care of this. We’ll have our people take care of her. What about you? Any damage?”

He shook his head.

“Let’s just keep you calm then and get back to the estates. I’ve gone 34 years without a mishap with a werewolf and I would like to keep it that way.”

Daily Prompt: Wife

The Grey House:

Vincent narrowed his eyes and stared Charlie down. “The more questions I have to ask, the angrier I get. The angrier I get, the more likely I am to kill you before hearing the whole story, despite what your wife made me promise.”

Daily Prompt: Death

From The Grey House:

Natalia thought of forming a group with people like Dean. People that had lost family to vampires in the area, but who didn’t hear the voices. She felt they were more able to see that not all the vampires and creatures of the shadows had to die. Dean was still too close to the death of his family though. He was convinced that the angels would talk to him one day. Natalia almost hoped not. Slayers only saw black and white, good and evil. The world wasn’t that simple.

Daily Prompt: Even

From The Grey House:

That’s where the Slayers came in. They were sent by God to hold back the monsters. Most times, Slayers killed the monsters outright, even if there were humans around. Natalia didn’t agree with that. She felt there was a better way. She found she could approach most vampires if she were careful. Sometimes, she could approach werewolves, but they were trickier. Too close to the full moon, their rage was just under the surface. She rubbed her shoulder as the memory of Charlie’s betrayal came back to her.

Daily Prompt: Dry

From The Grey House:

Once done, she used her thick towels to dry off. There was no blood when she wiped her right arm, which meant the bullet wound was healing well. Her shoulder still hurt to move, but it seemed a bit better. Natalia shook her head. She was probably only wanting it to feel better. It was too soon for the muscles to feel better.
