From Protector of the Grey House:
At the doors to the training room, Vincent regarded the creatures present. Most of the assembled were vampires loyal to him. There were more in the area than Edwin knew of. He had brought in vampires from all over the world that wanted to see the monster dead and out of power. There were about twenty vampires present, all of whom knew about the strange attraction between Vincent and the human. Vincent sought out his human, not surprised to see her with the werewolves. She stood at the back of the room against the wall and spoke with Rebecca. Both women looked happy to see each other. Charlie, to the other side of Rebecca, looked even happier. He had his arm around his wife and grinned from ear to ear. Vincent stepped into the room, and went right to Joseph, who stood near Anthony. Vincent whispered to Joseph, then pulled away, and went to the front wall to wait.
Natalia watched her lover come into the room and wondered at the look on his face. It was a surprise to see all the people present. Natalia went straight to Rebecca, as she knew she could ignore the rest of the room if she spoke with her friend. As Vincent caught her eye, she felt the peace that had crept over her while she talked to Rebecca try and slip away. She held onto it. If the feeling left, her stress and headache would return. She took a deep breath and continued her conversation with Rebecca. The Alpha wolf was explaining how the dynamics of her family worked. It seemed that due to the pact they made with Vincent, it was easier for Rebecca’s parents to raise the twins. Rebecca’s grandfather raised her and her brother. They continued the conversation as Natalia tried to ignore the look on her man’s face.
