Daily Prompt: Wrestle

From The Grey House:

The color drained from Natalia’s face. As far as she remembered, she never once mentioned her best friend to Zechariah or any Slayer. “Why did you bring her up?”

He gave her an awful grin as her hands were tied behind her. Natalia pulled against the men holding her to no avail. As she struggled, they wrestled her to the ground and tied her hands behind her back. She tried to scream, but a cloth was placed against her nose and mouth. She tried not to breathe, but it was useless. The chloroform seeped into her air passages and she passed out.

Daily Prompt: Reflected

From The Grey House:

He watched her for a moment, then asked gently. “Do you know where they’re keeping her?”

She stopped by an open window and stared at him. She perched on the window edge. Her voice reflected her frustrations. She shook her head and looked out the window. “I don’t even know where they’re keeping me, Vincent.”

The vampire continued to watch the human for a moment. “Why are you their captive?”

Daily Prompt: Glimpse

From The Grey House:

“You’re a fool.” Marshal’s voice was becoming harder. “Turn back to God before you see the true face of the devil.”

All mirth dropped from Natalia’s attitude. She stopped walking and faced off with Marshal. Her hands became fists. “My first glimpse of the devil was when I was 10. I’ve seen him many times in many forms since. I have yet to see as much evidence of your God.”

“Zechariah’s right. The devil has already claimed you.”

Daily Prompt: Sit

From The Grey House:

The rough movements of the vehicle woke Natalia, but she didn’t immediately sit up. She could tell she was lying on someone’s lap, and there was a hand on her shoulder. The hand did not feel confining; it felt comforting. She took deep breaths and opened her eyes to darkness. She was still blindfolded. Fine. She tried to move her arms and realized they were tied in front of her. Her legs were bound as well, but as there wasn’t pain in her feet, she assumed they had not tied her tightly.

Daily Prompt: Star

From The Grey House:

“How safe is it to get a job there?” Dean asked with true worry in his voice.

“It’s a five-star restaurant. There haven’t been any killings or murders there.” Sometimes, when a vampire or other creature owned a business, there seemed to be a lot more crime than one would expect at the establishment. Vincent Grey seemed to know how to stay safe.

“Don’t you already have a job, though?”

She looked to the young man. “Dean someone needs to do this. I’m the best bet. They seem to hire more women than men.”

That wasn’t true. She had stopped by the restaurant during the lunch rush to pick up an application and during the dinner rush to drop it off. Their wait staff seemed to be a good mix of all genders, but she wanted to be the one to approach Vincent. If he wasn’t the one causing the problems in the area, she wanted to find a way to warn him of the danger of Slayers.

Daily Prompt: Kneel

From The Grey House:

Vincent picked Mierka up off him and got out of the bed. He wandered over to the covered window, wishing to peer out of it. The blanket covering the window was securely nailed to the wooden frame, making it hard to pull the covering back. Unable to look out the window, he simply turned and leaned against the wall next to it. “You presume to know my mind, mistress?”

She was kneeling on the bed, naked. Her usual smirk was on her lips and reflected in her eyes. “You wanted to wake up with her in your bed, didn’t you?”

Vincent growled and turned his head away from Mierka. She left the bed and came to him, running her hands over his chest.

“Mierka, leave me be.” He didn’t like being teased like this.

Daily Prompt: Thanks

From The Grey House:

He grabbed his own mobile device out of his pocket and checked his messages. The information for her contact in Boston stared back at him. He nodded. “Thanks.”

“You sure you don’t need anything else?”

“I want to know more about you, but I don’t think there’s time for that.”

“Even if there was, I wouldn’t tell you much.”

“Fair.” He looked around. “You know where you are?”

“Yep.”

“Good.”

Daily Prompt: Ritual

This is actually from Inside the Grey House, but will most probably be featured as an extra chapter in The Grey House:

Lorraine hung up the phone, sat in her chair and looked toward Vincent, who was leaning against the door. “All my healers went down to North Carolina for a ritual. They can’t spare anyone until this afternoon. Lilly will be here at sunrise. It’s the best I can do.”

Vincent stared at her fuming. “You said you had someone here.”

Lorraine leaned back in her chair, placed her feet on the desk and her hands behind her head. The robe slid open revealing every inch of her pale petite body. Vincent felt himself reacting, knowing what she was capable of despite her size. “I told you I thought I could have someone here. And I really thought I could Vincent, love. I’ve been trying since you called.”

Daily Prompt: Threaten

From The Grey House:

After meeting Vincent and his people though, Natalia reread the journals that spoke of him. Then she slept with the vampire. Now, Natalia wanted to be with him. Alone in her room at the cabin, Natalia had time to think. Though Vincent had threatened to take her home against her will, he didn’t. It was more than she could say for the Slayers. Miguel didn’t even bat an eye when he saw her and found out tonight that she had been captured. The Slayers wanted to win against all odds. Vincent seemed to want her on his side.

Daily Prompt: Direct

From The Grey House:

“Natalia just woke up. She forgot about a Slayer named Dean. He’s running an errand, and she doesn’t know when he’ll be back.”

“Strengths and weaknesses?”

Charlie stared at Natalia, who seemed to be calming down. “Hold on a sec.”

“Fine.”

Charlie handed the phone to Natalia. “Here. Talk to Joseph. Be direct. He likes that.”

“Is he the tall imposing, bald guy?”

Charlie nodded as she took the phone

“I’ve met him. Can we get some food? I think I’m hungry.”
