Daily Prompt: Explosion

From The Grey House, Book Three, Protector of the Grey House:

Natalia shook her head, trying to pull away from the embrace. But Mierka was pressed against her back and Ted had his arms wrapped around her waist. The contrast between his heat and her chill made Natalia’s head reel and spin. The salty, sweet taste crept onto her tongue, causing an explosion in her head. Mierka’s voice was soft and soothing: a voice of reason. Except something wasn’t right with the situation and she couldn’t see through the cloud in her head to think about it well enough. Then the reassuring female voice was reverberating in her head and she let go of her doubt. This was a trustworthy voice. She could give in to the familiar sound; it would cause her no harm.

Daily Prompt: Member

From The Grey House, Book one:

The Red Thread was a membership only club for humans who had a taste for the unique. There were very few humans who knew that the people dressed as monsters were real. Most never found out unless they were chosen as victims. Vincent had hired five vampires to make sure the monsters did not make snacks out of his paying members.

Daily Prompt: Highlight

From The Grey House, Book Two, Inside the Grey House:

Vincent’s jaw twitched and it set him in motion. In one smooth move he was on the other side of the bed, kneeling besides Ben. The tired vampire prudently slid out of the way, leaving the room with the help of one of the humans. He had not slept in two days; he had barely eaten. He needed looking after. Vincent didn’t notice when Ben left. He slipped his arms under Natalia’s knees and back, cradling her drenched body as he picked her up. His jaw was twitching as he carried her out the door. Lilly followed, the small confident smile still highlighting her features.

Daily Prompt: Personal

From The Grey House, Book One:

Vincent stared at the screen showing her personal belongings. Natalie Dovenski was not a rare name, but neither was it common. He wondered if it was his mystery woman. He could watch in here until she was within view, then go outside to meet her if it was Natalia Dveski. But there was a problem. He and Richard were the only people in the restaurant. Joseph, his usual shadow, had a date with Mierka. They were off for a few hours, doing whatever it was they enjoyed doing. His eyes slowly moved toward Richard. Three was a crowd.

Fun stuff for the day

I have been re-reading The Grey House, Book Two, Inside the Grey House, and found a paragraph that I wanted to share. Rather than trying to find a word that matches the paragraph, I’m just posting the paragraph. It’s one of my favorites:

Charlie stood, angry and annoyed. “You know what, Vincent? Screw you. She’ll be in your bed tonight and what about me? I’m going to spend the night in my bed,” he raised his right hand, “with my right hand man. My wife, who would be more then happy to remind me that I’m hers after an incident like this, is conveniently in another part of this country. You get to leave this room, find your woman, throw her into your bed and claim her and make her scream your name. I’ve got I don’t know how long before I see my woman again.”

Daily Prompt: Building

From The Grey House, Book One:

Rebecca could see Natalia huddled in the entryway of the apartment building safe house. To the passerby, she would look like a drowned rat. Luckily, at this hour, the only passersby were the people coming to The Hook Up. Rebecca was sitting at a table in the front corner by the big picture window. It was tinted to keep the glare out, which also made it hard for people to look in. Looking out was not as much of a problem.

Daily Prompt: Glove

From The Grey House, Book Two, Inside the Grey House:

Natalia knew she didn’t have to say where she had been. She could keep the necklace, say nothing of her whereabouts and Vincent would never know. But she didn’t want to lie to Vincent, and if he didn’t know, Julia would never know either, which was unacceptable. Natalia finished tying the end of the bandage, cleaned her hands with disinfectant wipes she kept in her glove compartment, and took the necklace off the rear view mirror. There was no way she was keeping the necklace. Julia deserved to have it back, deserved to know Theodore no longer horded it. Placing the necklace carefully in her fist, Natalia opened the door to her busted up car and went upstairs to face her judgment.

Daily Prompt: Consciousness

From The Grey House, Book Two, Inside the Grey House:

Natalia threw her head back as the shudders increased and her body heaved one final time. Acid, blood and other liquids came boiling up her throat and out her mouth. The large glob sank to the bottom of the tub and started to mix with the water. Natalia sank to her knees. Consciousness seeped in as she was helped to the seat. She felt cool glass touch her lips and water trickled down the corners of her mouth until she sucked it in and started drinking. She was only given a swallow or two before the glass was pulled away. She felt a hand take hers and the glass was placed in it. She dropped the glass a second later.

Daily Prompts

Turns out, WordPress has stopped their Daily prompts, but I really liked the opportunity to share my work. I am trying to find another Word Prompt, but having trouble finding one I like. I will continue trying, and will do what I can to continue sharing. Until then, get out there and be creative! The world needs it!

Broken

via Broken

From The Grey House, Book One:

“Crap.” Charlie gave up the stealth and shoved the door open. He turned on the light as he walked in and then stopped. Something crunched under his boot. Backing up carefully, he looked down and became angry and scared. He had stepped on her already broken cell phone. He knelt and touched the pieces. Had she tried to call for help? Her phone was completely dead; he couldn’t even turn it on.
