Daily Prompt: black

From Protector of the Grey House:

Vincent believed the Mayor brought her back as a sacrifice for the Captain. Vincent made a note to get her out with the others but knew it would be a hard task as she was not straying from the mayor. Still trying to puzzle out the situation, he almost missed his woman’s entrance.

Natalia was a sight. The werewolves, who were still guarding her rear and flanks, were in ripped, dirty clothing, adding to the effect. He had wanted her in white specifically to make her look angelic. He had dressed in all black knowing the sight they would make at the end of the battle. Vincent could see the hilt of the sword over her right shoulder. The smile on her face made her look impish. He growled low as he caught her eye, wanting the fight over with. At the end of the night, he would take her home, throw her on the bed and screw that smile into an orgasmic scream. The growl grew louder, and Joseph elbowed him in the side to bring him back to the moment.

Daily Prompt:

From Protector of the Grey House:

“Let her walk on her own.” Vincent’s voice was unreadable.

Mierka looked to Joseph. A look passed between them and Joseph nodded minutely. Mierka released Natalia then quickly walked to Vincent’s side. She withdrew something from a secret pocket, and waited for the inevitable. Still shaking, Natalia started forward, and refused to look anywhere but the floor. She took one step then another, and allowed herself to relax as she drew closer to Joseph. She couldn’t get through him; she was safe. She was a step away from him when she felt the presence in her mind again. It urged her to place the small insignificant tarnished silver band on her pinky. As the ring called again, she shook, and lunged toward Joseph.

Daily Prompt: animal

I come across passages like this and hesitate, but then remember that I labeled this site as “over 18” so here you go.

From Protector of the Grey House:

Vincent stared at the beauty above him, marveling at his thoughts. Two nights ago, when he shared Lorraine’s bed, all he could think of was feeling Natalia’s warmth on every inch of his body. Now she surrounded him, seared him with her fire. All he could think about was grabbing her to him, sinking his teeth into her flesh and stealing her heat. He wanted to make her cold and eternal like him. He watched and felt as she rode him like the animal he was rearing back as pleasure took over. She cried out then brought her head forward, showing him stark emotion. Their eyes locked and she started to shake. He reached up to touch her cheek and each understood how much they almost lost. Then she smiled her pleasure and tightened around him. Vincent gave her a growl that turned into a bellow of pure passion.

In a movement so swift it made her lightheaded, he was on top of her, thrusting himself deep inside her. She cried out, grabbed his hair and used the leverage to arch into him, granting him deeper access. Her legs were wrapped around him; holding on fiercely as brutal satisfaction took over them both.

Daily Prompt: bed

From Protector of the Grey House:

He could see her on his bed in the tower room she had no idea of, olive skin marked with streaks of glorious crimson. She appeared dead, but he knew better. In his vision, she turned to look at him and opened her mouth. Though she lay on her back, the blood in her mouth poured out as if she were on the ceiling. It surrounded him, soaked him, aroused him beyond his original state. Vincent grunted in pain as the vision continued to wrap its hideous claws into his psyche, dug its nails of delusion deep within his mind until he couldn’t distinguish between reality and fantasy.

The large vampire clutched the edge of his wooden desk in an attempt to funnel his appetite away from himself, as he knew he couldn’t release it on his woman. She wouldn’t be able to take it. As he felt the wood dent and start to splinter, he knew he had to leave for a day or two. He had to be with a woman who could take him on and feed his aggressive tendencies. After this evening’s affairs he would visit Lorraine. It would be easier to sleep with Mierka. The idea of releasing his hunger on one woman when Natalia would be accessible down the hall terrified him. Should he take another with the knowledge that his true lover was within reach, he would go to the human and conceivably harm her.

Daily Prompt: scraped

From Protector of the Grey House:

Natalia’s sigh turned into a slight sob. It would be so easy to lay her troubles at Vincent’s feet, let someone else go after Donald while Vincent sucked the blood out of her willing body and gave her his. Vincent, sensing her thoughts, lowered his lips to her neck and growled against her skin. He knew she wouldn’t allow him to change her this day, but she was considering it more and more. Soon, she would say yes, and he would have what he wanted.

She sighed as his teeth scraped her skin and he pulled back. Vincent wanted to undress her, wanted to enjoy his woman, but the sigh and the look in her eyes showed how tired she truly was. If he wanted, he could easily seduce her, easily convince her she was able to take him on, but what good would that do her? She was in a dangerous situation and needed to be on her toes. Vincent gave his own sigh and brought Natalia closer to him. She leaned her head on his chest, curling up close to him.

Daily Prompt: order

This scene, and many others around it, may not appear in the final book. I have rethought it over and over and over and I don’t like it or what it shows about Vincent. There are literal chapters I need to re-work. I don’t want to. Is that why the release of book 2 & 3 have been paused? No, but it isn’t helping.

From Protector of the Grey House:

Vincent almost broke as he realized he had definitely ignored one of his emotions. He knew Joseph had shown her the oubliette. Perhaps that was enough. He saw her before him, her eyes full of pride and a certain readiness. It was as if she understood she did something wrong and deserved to be punished. The look made him understand her thoughts and he nearly changed his mind. Before he could cave, he closed his mind and stepped forward.

“Last night, Natalia disobeyed an order and acted against my will. She was told beforehand that should she disobey me, she would be punished. I might have been able to overlook the fact that she disobeyed me, except that she put me, and all those I protect in danger. This I cannot and will not overlook. I have gathered you here tonight to witness what happens when one of my own chooses to disobey me and put my household at risk.”

Daily Prompt: concentrated

From Protector of the Grey House:

“Morgan is planning on killing you.”

Vincent raised an eyebrow. “Really? Hadn’t noticed.”

Julia shook her head and closed her eyes as her hand stole to the blue stone pendant around her neck. She concentrated then opened her eyes to look at her Captain. Vincent watched her compose herself, wondering what the game was.

“This was nothing. It was for his fun. He hired a Slayer.”

Vincent sat up straighter. Markus and Kari looked stunned. Anthony waited for the rest.

“Do you know who he hired?”

“Name, address, phone number. Where and when he’s supposed to kill you.”

“Can you take care of him?”

Julia’s eyes grew wide. “Y-yes. Yes, I can sir. It would be my pleasure.”

Daily Prompt: beautiful

From Protector of the Grey House:

“Edwin! Show yourself!”

The words reverberated in the large room, and creatures moved even further away from her, afraid to get near her. None but Vincent’s men knew what the sword was, but all were afraid and wanted nothing to do with it and the woman who wielded it. The crowd parted, revealing Edwin to the beautiful creature in white. The obtuse Captain stood with mouth agape staring at her. He knew this one and couldn’t believe she was in his home demanding anything. According to reports, this human who seemed to have power at his aborted inauguration, was now just Vincent’s whore. What the hell was she doing calling him out in his home?

Annoyed beyond reason, Edwin stalked to Natalia. He stopped ten feet away from her, confusion evident on his face. “Who dares call me out, at my party, in my house?”

Daily Prompt: glass

From Protector of the Grey House:

Natalia heard the sound of glass scraping and crunching and turned to the monstrosity that was now not ten feet from her. Eyes wide she backed up, mind torn between panic and laughter. This thing coming toward her could not be real. She then remembered where she had heard of it and why it was hard to think of it as real. Slayers heard of these creatures from junkies, pushers and dealers. It wasn’t surprising they weren’t believed.

Natalia continued to back up wracking her memory for the demon’s weak spot. It was something obvious, but she couldn’t remember. She slowed her breath to calm her nerves and give herself time to think. It wasn’t moving any faster than she was. It bellowed and threaten but didn’t attack. It was possibly assessing her strengths. Natalia backed up again, dancing out of its way as it swung and realized her mistake. She had forgotten where she left her shoes and stepped on one of them, almost stumbling to the ground. Rebecca caught her and pulled her to the right as a dark brown form leapt from her left and hurled itself at the advancing demon.

Daily Prompt: exactly

This week has not been good. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I woke from too little sleep. Monday, I took the day off from work then slept until after noon. Wednesday, I got up and struggled with the day but didn’t feel that bad, which surprised me completely. Friday, I stayed in bed until after 8am and struggled through the day. This is why I didn’t post on Monday or Wednesday. If you look forward to my posts, thank you for sticking with me and sorry for the pause. Some times, I just don’t win against my health.

From Protector of the Grey House:

All heads turned to Alexandra, who had been one of Edwin’s closest. She was alive only because Morgan warned her not to be at Edwin’s last Red Tie Affair. Morgan vouched for her, and Vincent gave her enough room to let her prove exactly who she was loyal to. Anthony found out easily the woman’s loyalty was to herself.

Vincent turned his head first, letting his body move when he reached the apex of his turn. His voice dripped with sarcasm, mirth, and expectancy. “You have something to say?”

“The throne belongs to me! I was next in line!” She stepped toward him, trying to intimidate him. Edwin’s sire changed her, twenty-five years ago. Vincent could take her out easily. He wasn’t worried about this one.

He just stared at her, calmly waiting for an explanation. When one wasn’t forthcoming, he simply turned back to Natalia. “Where were we?”
